Louisiana alumni in Washington, D.C.

It’s the largest crawfish boil outside of Louisiana, East of the Mississippi (and, I’d venture to guess, West of the river as well): the Louisiana Collegiate Coalition (including LSU UNO ULM NSU McNeese Tulane and Centenary) sponsored the boil in D.C. with 15,000 pounds of Louisiana crawfish. Uncle Daniel flew out and we hoisted a maroon and gold flag of the Brother Martin Crusaders’ shield and “crashed” the event with other grads and just started to enjoy unlimited platters of crawfish, spicy sausage, jambalaya, corn and potatoes, 40 kegs of beer, Coke, water and good company (not necessarily in that order) when the black clouds overhead began to rain — and then pour!

The band didn’t miss a beat and the cooks continued to serve, so we abandoned our flag and chairs in the wet grass and spent the rest of the afternoon under the Pavilion.
