I left my heart in Tucson
When I was in college, I “liberated” a feisty desert tortoise from the middle of the road to (what I thought at the time would be) a better life. She moved with me first to Oregon and my Kappa roommates and then to Tucson.
When I found out I was moving to Tokyo, I signed papers for the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum to adopt her. Whenever I’m in Tucson, I try to visit her. She hibernates in the winter so no photos of her this trip, but some of the beautiful place she calls home.
