about
Christine Gacharná
writer | photographer
Back when reading news on paper was still a thing, I was the editor-in-chief of my campus newspaper and the founder of the online Arizona Daily Wildcat. I’m an award-winning writer and photographer whose work as a staff writer and freelancer has appeared everywhere, from local newspapers to national magazines, including Time magazine (twice!)
I hold a BA in English from Oregon State University and an MA in journalism from the University of Arizona and a post-bacc secondary teaching certification.
For three years, I taught English in Tokyo. For six years, I taught undergraduate COMM & English courses at the University of Phoenix, where as Lead Faculty for Communication, I helped streamline the evaluation and assessment of student writing across campus.
These days, I am the Executive Director and Creator of ESSAY CURE, bridging the gap for students from High School English Lit to academic writing at the undergraduate level and into their professional lives.
I serve on the Board of Directors for the River Creek Owners Association and Healthworks for Northern Virginia.
I’m a member in good standing of the Professional Photographers of America, the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce, and the Society of Professional Journalists.
