  • christine - we were! we were?

the pace of life in Northern Virginia is screaming fast — so much opportunity it’s criminal not to take advantage of every drop. both kids play CYO basketball; J has Tae Kwon Do twice a week, sax twice a week, guitar once a week and continues to maintain a 97+ in every class; A has trumpet twice a week, swim team once a week and her own newspaper she publishes weekly (it deserves its own post, that publication.) the Pentagon is a 12-hour day for Carlos (counting commute and gym time) and he is an assistant coach for both kids’ basketball teams. he’s determined to nurture Mommy’s approach to math out of Lexi’s inherited nature and dedicates each evening to the cause. 🙂 throw in LSU football and his schedule becomes an art. I juggle design & composition class, golf lessons, yoga classes, a small business, a PTO board position, freelance work, a new venture (a post all its own, coming later) and a lot lot lot of household responsibilities including a sit-down dinner each night that I feel is so important and non-negotiable. we fill our weekends with sports, games, the library, the Smithsonians, friends and Rock Band; our lives are happy, FULL and fun.

we used every ounce of this vacation to put work, school and activities on hold, filling our days instead with sleep, good books, walking in the sand, snorkeling and just hanging out. Thanksgiving eve, we sat on the deck at the Breakers Hotel in West Palm Beach, overlooking the golf course, and ate a fantastic meal. it was one of the dreamiest Thanksgivings I can remember.

the unintended consequence of a weekend unplugged is that we missed seeing the Rolenc family; Suzanne and her new baby and the one I haven’t met yet; Kate, whose baby is who is now a toddler and whom I really wanted to photograph us for our Christmas card; two different cousins; and now your parents. 🙁ReplyCancel

  • Lora - Hey – were you actually in WPB? You know you were about 45 minutes from Mom & Dad – no big deal but they would have LOVED to see you. Hope you had a great weekend!ReplyCancel
