Every session, I shoot a frame out-of-focus. It’s fun! It’s become something of a personal project for me over the last couple of years, this collection of blurs.

Tiffany and Ronnie are an exceptionally striking couple, married in a candlelight ceremony last weekend. I was 2nd shooting for the very fun and talented NYC photographer Josh Dwain, and I’m excited to see what he does with the “real” images from such a beautiful wedding party, especially his offbeat bridal party poses. Originally, my intent was to shoot a portrait of Peter using carefully controlled manual settings to compare Nikon to Zeiss. Peter brought along some of his landscape images for me to see (not to take anything away from his landscapes of course!) and buried near the bottom was a self portrait experiment of his in black & white that showed two images (sides?) of him. I’d never shot an image quite like his as a long exposure — I’d only done it as a double exposure.
